OCR: Principal Component Rays If you load ordinary variables on two or three of your axes and obtain principal components, then those components are shown as rays in the spinning plot. These rays, called p-rays approximate the principal component as function of the variables on the axes If there are only two or three variables, then the rays represent the principal components exactly The length of the ray corresponds to the eigenvalue or variance of the principal component Because the first principal component captures the most variability possible the P1 ray can be very long compared to the later components.
